SINGAPORE – Originally named Kreta Ayer Complex when it opened in 1983, Chinatown Complex – as it was renamed the following year – cost $18 million to build.
The market and food centre became the site of relocation for Chinatown’s streetside hawkers, with some among them who have been plying their trade before World War II.
