Francis joined The Straits Times after a varied career that took him from law enforcement to the local small business lobby and banking. He has since reported the news from Singapore, as well as Indonesia, where he was the newspaper's Indonesia Bureau Chief in Jakarta until recently. He now lives in Washington DC.
