WASHINGTON - A House of Representatives committee has voted unanimously to subpoena former president Donald Trump over the Jan 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol by his supporters, lending a dramatic note to its concluding hearing on that day's events.

The House Select Committee's seven Democratic and two Republican members voted in favour of issuing a subpoena for Mr Trump to provide documents and testimony under oath in connection with the storming of the Capitol.
