There was a curious 10-minute spell before the half-hour mark in Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg at Anfield, when the visitors were hoofing the ball out of defence repeatedly.

Strange because while Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool are the masters of gegenpressing, their opponents were no pushovers. They are Manchester City, the slick passers under Pep Guardiola.
