Hawkers association in WP ward closes down

It shut down due to governance issues and was struck off Registry of Societies last year

An association that represented hawkers in Bedok North and helped resolve their infamous row with the Workers' Party (WP)-run town council over the cleaning of food centres in 2013 has closed down due to governance issues.

Kaki Bukit Promenade Merchants' Association, which represents some 60 stallholders at Block 511, was struck off the Registry of Societies in January last year, The Straits Times has learnt.
