Making the best of a bad time

Since the coronavirus hit Singapore's shores in late January, business has dried up, people have been told to work from home and large-scale events have been cancelled. Yet, there is a silver lining, as some people here have found out. Many are making the best of this lull to learn new skills, declutter, spend time with loved ones and reposition themselves for the upturn. The Sunday Times speaks to some of them.

Since the coronavirus outbreak, many getai shows at temples and community clubs have been called off.

As audiences stay home and tasselled costumes are stashed away, getai organisers have been praying that the pandemic will plateau before their peak period, the Hungry Ghost Festival during the seventh lunar month, which is from Aug 19 to Sept 16 this year.
