SINGAPORE – When Tanya Chua received Taiwan’s Golden Melody Award for Best Female Singer (Mandarin) for the fourth time in July, she set a record for winning the most number of times in that category.
It also meant the Singaporean edged out Taiwanese singer A-mei, who is known in the Mandopop world for her vocal prowess and emotional range, and has won the same award three times.
