US Defence Secretary visits India

United States Defence Secretary James Mattis is slated to meet his Indian counterpart, Ms Nirmala Sitharaman, in New Delhi today. North Korea's nuclear programme is expected to be one of the topics raised by Mr Mattis with Ms Sitharaman and other Indian leaders during his three-day visit.


Career fair for electronics sector

A job fair for those interested in the electronics industry will be held today, with over 20 employers looking to fill more than 600 vacancies. Organised by Workforce Singapore with the Economic Development Board, the event comes as the Government is rolling out a transformation blueprint for the industry to help electronics manufacturers diversify into new growth opportunities, transform existing factories and deepen workers' skills.


August factory output data today

Data for Singapore's industrial production last month will be released today, and economists will be looking for signs of continued strength. Factory output in July turned in a stellar performance, led by record-high electronics output. It rose 21 per cent year on year, accelerating from a revised 12.7 per cent growth in June.
