United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson travels to Seoul today, where he will urge his hosts to pressure Pyongyang to halt its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes.

US officials have been spooked by North Korea's accelerating progress towards building an intercontinental ballistic missile that could threaten US mainland cities.


Festival to promote energy efficiency

A public festival featuring energy-efficient ideas from people and businesses across Asia will have its opening ceremony today.

The event, titled Make The Future Singapore 2017, includes discussions, exhibits and a competition between energy-efficient cars.

Today's opening at Changi Exhibition Centre will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean.


Rise in non-oil exports expected

Trade agency IE Singapore will release data on Singapore's February trade performance today.

Economists polled by Bloomberg expect a 12.5 per cent rise in non-oil domestic exports compared with the same month a year earlier, boosted largely by a resurgent manufacturing sector.
