Parents queuing with their children to see Santa at a US mall were left fuming after a pastor filmed himself telling the kids that Santa Claus "is not real".

Evangelical pastor David Grisham pulled off the stunt at Amarillo's Westgate Mall in Texas over the weekend (Dec 10/11) in an effort to teach kids "that Christmas is about Jesus Christ," and then later posted the three-minute video to his Facebook page.

"Kids, I want to tell you today that there is no such thing as Santa Claus," he can be heard shouting while walking alongside the long line of children and their parents.

"The man you're going to see today is just a man in a suit, dressed up like Santa, but Santa does not exist," he continues.

"Santa's not real. And parents you all need to stop lying to your children and telling them that Santa Claus is real when in fact he's not."

Grisham, a preacher from Last Frontier Evangelism in Alaska, adds: "The Christmas season is about Jesus. Jesus was born 2,016 years ago. He was born in a manger in a small town called Bethlehem. That is the truth about Christmas."

Parents in line with their children start shouting at Grisham to "quit it" and "leave", but he then addresses them instead.

"Do not lie to your children and tell them there is such a thing as Santa when you know in reality that there are no flying reindeer, there is no workshop at the North Pole, there is [sic] no elves making toys, that you buy all the gifts and put them under the tree.

"That's the truth and there is no real Santa Claus."

Most people in line can be seen keeping their backs to him, but eventually several parents get out to confront him.

"I've got my kids over there, we don't need you coming over here blabbing whatever it is you're blabbing," one upset man tells him.

Eventually, two men come to challenge Grisham, who eventually decides to leave, telling them: "You all have a nice day."

This is far from the first controversial stunt Grisham has used to draw attention to his street preaching, says the Daily Mail. In another video posted the day before his latest stunt, Grisham uploaded footage of Santa's grotto from Park Place Mall in Arlington, Texas, vowing to come back once it has opened to continue spreading his message about Santa.

On his Facebook page - which it appears has since become unavailable - are multiple images of himself preaching at Gay Pride rallies while dressed in T-shirts denouncing homosexuality as a sin, reports the Mail.

On the mall's Facebook page, several people expressed their outrage over Grisham's behaviour and asked that he be banned, said the Huffington Post.

According to the Post, Westgate Mall acknowledged Grisham's behaviour in a statement sent to the site.

"We want everyone at our shopping centre to have an enjoyable experience," the statement said. "All of the shoppers are expected to follow our code of conduct and will be asked to leave our premises if they don't follow these rules."

The mall's code of conduct prohibits any kind of behaviour that disturbs the peace, including annoying others.
