Trump-Kim detente comes crashing to earth following Pyongyang's threat to reconsider summit

WASHINGTON - North Korea may have done the world a favour by puncturing the premature euphoria in some quarters in the United States ahead of the June 12 summit between President Donald Trump and the enigmatic Kim Jong Un.

The weeks-long flurry of diplomacy and declarations had built up expectations for the summit.
