Two boys, two girls selected after Singapore Table Tennis Association holds trials for AYG

Two boys and two girls will be nominated by the Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) for this August's Asian Youth Games, after a selection trial jointly conducted by the STTA and Singapore Sports Council on Saturday.

They are: Yin Jing Yuan, 16, Edric Lim, 16, Ang Wan Qi, 15 and Tay Hui Li, 14.

Apart from Edric, who is part of the Singapore Sports School's School-Within-A-School (SWS) programme, all the selected paddlers are from the national youth team.

A total of nine players - six boys and three girls - from the Youth Olympic Games training team took part in the selection trial, which lasted more than five hours at the Singapore Sports School.

The trial brings to a close the selection saga that started early this year, when parents of players from the national youth side felt their children are being slighted in favour of SWS paddlers.

The selection of the nominated players, however, is subject to approval by the Singapore National Olympic Council.
