Promoter blames duo for poor turnout
LONDON • A co-promoter of the Malaysian leg of Liverpool's four-game Asian tour has claimed that the departures of Steven Gerrard and Raheem Sterling were contributing factors to a relatively low attendance at the Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
The game last week between the Premier League club and a Malaysia Select XI ended 1-1 with an unofficial attendance of around 50,000, less than the 80,000 who had watched a similar friendly in 2013 at the same arena.
