SINGAPORE - Australia's national women's hockey team registered their first win of the The Project Group International Tri-Series with a 3-1 win over world No. 8 Germany at Sengkang Stadium on Thursday evening.
Goals from defender Georgina Morgan and forwards Brooke Peris and Georgie Parker ensured a comfortable victory for the Hockeyroos, whose high-intensity pressing game unsettled the German defence throughout the match. Germany's only goal came from forward Marie Mavers.
The Germans will face the Netherlands again on Friday. The Tri-Series is a round-robin tournament with the three participating teams facing each other twice. On Tuesday, the German side put up a gritty performance to hold the reigning Olympic and world champions to a 0-0 draw.
The Hockeyroos will play the Dutch in the competition's final fixture on Saturday.
