Hansamu display raises defender's profile

Hansamu Yama Pranata

Hansamu Yama Pranata grabbed public attention for his performance in the first leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup final on Wednesday. His goal in the 70th minute, his second in three appearances, gave Indonesia a 2-1 victory over Thailand.

As compiled by tempo.co, here are some fun facts about the 21-year-old:

•He played for Deportivo Indonesia - a coaching project for young Indonesian players in Uruguay - between 2011 and 2013.

•He was not in the squad for the group stage. Coach Alfred Riedl called him up when Rudolof Yanto Basna and Fachrudin Aryanto suffered injuries before the semi-final.

•Before the Cup, Hansamu's claim to fame or rather, infamy, was that he was the villain who caused Irfan Bachdim's injury, putting the star striker out of the Cup.

•Hansamu was vice-captain for the Indonesia Under-19 team - playing 25 times and contributing one goal. With the U-23s, he made 13 appearances and scored once.
