Basketball: 203 teams for largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament in Singapore

The ICBC Fiba 3v3, the largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament held locally and sanctioned by the sport's world governing body Fiba, saw 203 teams participating on Saturday.

The tournament saw players aged 8-41, in teams of up to four, compete at the Singapore Basketball Centre.

Sponsored by the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and co-organised by Cagers Sports and Event Management and the Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS), it is the first of four series in this tournament.

Teams can earn Fiba points, which are needed to qualify for other affiliated tournaments such as the Fiba World Tour.

Seah Ling Bing, honorary secretary of BAS, said: "I think BAS, as a national sports agency, is responsible for developing and promoting basketball in Singapore. So we definitely are very happy to see this event organised here, and we support any activity that would promote basketball in Singapore, whether at the grassroots level or at a higher level."

The tournament continues today.
