Badminton: Corporate league and carnival to run alongside Li-Ning S'pore Open this year

A corporate league and a badminton carnival will run alongside June 18-23's Li-Ning Singapore Open, organisers of the tournament at the Singapore Indoor Stadium announced on Thursday.

Six companies will compete in the corporate league, and will each feature national players such as Singapore's world No. 15 women's doubles pair Shinta Mulia Sari and Yao Lei, and world No. 12 mixed doubles pair Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Vanessa Neo.

Former national shuttlers Ronald Susilo and Kendrick Lee will also feature in the league, which will be held in a mixed team format similar to the Sudirman Cup.

Spectators will also be able to participate in game stations at the carnival. A mini-concert will also be staged before the finals.

Francis Koh, organising chairman of the event this year, believes the event will be an engaging experience for fans.

He said: "While the corporate league brings in the commercial engagement, individual badminton lovers and families will enjoy the musical and cheerleading lineup we have arranged, as well as the fun-packed badminton carnival.

"We are sure that this year's Li-Ning Singapore Open will be an enriching experience."

Tickets for the tournament are priced from $18 for a daily ticket to $280 for a premium season ticket. They are available on Sistic from May 8.
