Two arrested for temple break-in, stealing from donation box

Two men believed to have broken into and stolen from a temple in Geylang two weeks ago were arrested on Monday, said the police in a statement released on Tuesday.

The duo, aged 18 and 28, broke into the temple on the morning of Feb 13 and a CCTV video showed one of the suspects tampering with the temple's donation box while the other kept a lookout.

Police officers did their investigations and made the arrests on Monday seizing $1,912 in cash from the men.

It is understood that the men were caught at their homes. The two will be charged in court on Wednesday for housebreaking and theft. If convicted, they face a jail term of between two and 14 years.
