Downtown Line 2 preview today

Members of the public will get a preview of the Downtown Line 2 (DTL2) today, ahead of its official opening on Dec 27.

They can travel for free on the DTL2 from 10am to 6pm, and check out the station layouts and surrounding amenities of the 12 new stations. The 16.6km DTL2 extends the MRT network to the north-western region of Singapore, such as Bukit Panjang, and passes through the Bukit Timah corridor.


Anti-govt rally in Seoul

Thousands of activists and civic group members are set to join a mass rally against the South Korean government in central Seoul today, marking the second anti-government movement in three weeks. They will gather at Seoul Plaza to oppose planned labour reforms and the state history textbook policy, among other issues. The rally was initially banned by the police, citing public safety concerns, but the court overthrew the decision on Thursday.


Action Day for leaders in Paris

French President Francois Hollande and UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon will attend "COP21 Action Day" in Paris today on the sidelines of the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) on climate change. The huge number of climate partnerships and initiatives involving cities, the private sector and civil society will be showcased at the event to highlight the necessity, feasibility and power of multi-stakeholder climate action.
