SINGAPORE - President Tony Tan Keng Yam distributed N95 masks to 54 elderly residents at the St Andrew's Senior Care - JOY Connect on Wednesday (Oct 7).

The centre provides the elderly with services including nursing, physiotherapy and day care for those with dementia.

Most of its clients live in the Kampong Glam area.

The centre is fully air-conditioned and currently has 10 air purifiers to help residents cope with the effects of haze.

"What is important at the end of the day is Singaporeans look out for each other and that they help in various ways," said Dr Tan, adding that many organisations were now much better prepared for the haze compared to previous years.

During his visit, Dr Tan talked to residents, showed them how to put on the N95 mask and participated in a short game of bingo.
