Exhibition on Nobel Laureates makes Asian debut at Science Centre Singapore

An exhibition, which features more than 50 scientific Nobel Laureates showing their spontaneous sketches of their discoveries, made its Asian debut at the Science Centre Singapore in Jurong.

The "Sketches of Science" exhibition by award-winning German photographer Volker Steger shows portraits of the scientists with their drawings. These are complemented with interviews and videos of the scientists and their discoveries.

Among the portraits on display include Françoise Barré-Sinoussi who won the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 2008 for the discovery of the human immunodeficiency virus.

Mr Steger said: "The idea was to get something spontaneous ... I hope that (this exhibition) will help to catalyse creative scientific ideas and spark the innovative spirit among the young ones." The exhibition was launched by President Tony Tan Keng Yam on Monday night. It will be held at the Science Centre from Tuesday to Nov 22.
