Slight haze in Singapore on Friday evening

SINGAPORE - Slight haze clouded Singapore on Friday, as the three-hour Pollution Standards Index (PSI) rose to 86 at 8pm.

The 24-hour PSI reading was between 56 to 62, according to the National Environment Agency's (NEA) website.

The 3-hour PSI reading rose above 60 at 2pm on Friday, and went up steadily throughout the afternoon.

Both indices are in the moderate range.

NEA recommends that normal activities be carried out when the 24-hour PSI is in the moderate range of 50-100.

If the 24-hour index hits the unhealthy band (101-200), healthy people should reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion, while the elderly, pregnant women and children should minimise such exertion.
