Man arrested for attempting to start fire at SPC petrol kiosk in Tampines

SINGAPORE - A 27-year-old man has been arrested for attempted mischief by fire in Tampines, said the police on Thursday (March 1).

Police were alerted to a man threatening staff at an SPC petrol kiosk in Tampines Avenue 4 on Wednesday, they said in a statement.

The man had allegedly tried to start a fire using a lighter and an aerosol can.

Upon establishing the identity of the man, officers from the Bedok Police Division arrested him on Thursday near Sims Place.

If convicted, he will be liable to life imprisonment or imprisonment for up to 10 years, and a fine.
