Jail for man who filmed 2 co-tenants in the shower

An engineer who took videos of his two co-tenants in the shower a total of 15 times in June last year was jailed for 24 weeks yesterday.

Ho Seong Lim, 34, admitted to six of 15 charges of insulting the modesty of a woman at a Housing Board unit in the north-east of Singapore.

His offences came to light on June 21 last year, when the first victim, a 27-year-old woman, reported to the police that she suspected Ho had been taking video recordings of her showering.

She had checked his laptop and found a video recording of her showering.

Investigation revealed that sometime in June last year, the woman was showering when Ho held his mobile phone at the gap above the toilet door and made a recording.

He committed four more offences against the same victim.

The same month, he also filmed the second victim, aged 34, in the shower.

Nine other similar charges, including one more of insulting the older woman's modesty, were taken into consideration.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Kong Kuek Foo sought at least 12 weeks per charge to be imposed.

He said there was pre-meditation and that Ho could replay the videos many times to satisfy his perverse desire.

He added that Ho's action was more serious than upskirt videos as the faces of the victims could be seen.

Pleading for leniency, Ho claimed that he was not good at using tech devices and did not know how to upload videos.

He could have been jailed for up to one year and/or fined.
