SINGAPORE - Motorists at Changi Airport Terminal 1 (T1) are being re-directed by orange road signs, lane marking and marshals to park their vehicles at Terminal 2 (T2) on Friday, as part of the first day of the T1 carpark's temporary closure.

The open-air carpark at T1 will beclosed from 2am on Friday to the same time on Tuesday. Its arrival pick-up point has also been shifted to a new location outside the T1 Arrival Hall.

Some 50 staff have been deployed for the four-day dry-run by Changi Airport Group (CAG), which is being done to prepare for the closure of the T1 carpark in the last quarter of 2014, to make way for the construction of retail development Project Jewel.

After dropping passengers off at T1's departure level, drivers will have to make a slight detour, including a U-turn, to get to T2's Carpark 2B.

They will then have to take the Skytrain or a free shuttle bus, which runs every five to 15 minutes, to T1. The shuttle bus trip takes about seven minutes.

The shuttle bus waiting point at T1 is just outside the arrival hall, while the one at T2 is beside Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

Visitors to the airport can also get information about the changes at mobile information kiosks near the shuttle bus waiting points.
