Bedok North residents can now receive SMS crimes alerts

Bedok North residents can now be alerted to the latest crime trends in their neighbourhood by SMS.

The latest crime prevention initiative by Bedok Police Division, called the SMS Crime Alert, was unveiled on Saturday by Senior Minister of State for National Development Lee Yi Shyan.

Mr Lee, who is also MP for East Coast GRC, and Bedok Police Division Commander, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police How Kwang Hwee were attending a Community Safety & Security Programme's Anti-Unlicensed Moneylending Roadshow at Bedok Point Shopping Centre.

The event, organised by the Bedok North Neighbourhood Centre, and supported by the National Crime Prevention Council, aims to create awareness among members of public on Unlicensed Moneylending.

The police said Bedok North residents who signed up for the free service at the event would be updated on the latest crime trends happening in their residential estate through SMS.
