30 arrested for fire safety violations, drug, secret society related offences in joint op

Officers from the police force, Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), and the Singapore Civil Defence Force arrested 30 people for various offences in a joint 22-hour operation on Thursday, May 30, 2013.

They conducted checks at public entertainment outlets and public housing estates in Sembawang, Yishun, Ang Mo Kio, Hougang, Punggol and Serangoon Gardens, and arrested suspects for alleged offences including drug-related, secret society related ones, and fire safety violations.

Drugs worth more than $2,000 were seized in the operation, including about 24 grams of heroin, three Erimin-5 tablets and a small amount of 'Ice'.

Separately, the CNB held an island-wide operation from May 27 to 31, arresting 88 suspected drug offenders. Drugs worth more than $10,00 were seized, including about 47 grams of heroin, 31 grams of 'Ice,' seven Ecstasy tablets and a small amount of ketamine.

The operations were conducted at areas like Ang Mo Kio, Balestier and Bedok.
