Lee Lim was an icon in the field of artistic photography, both locally and internationally.
He was renowned for his landscape photography, which had a distinctive style resembling Chinese painting and portraiture.
Lee was a self-taught photographer. He became adept at using the camera as well as developing photographs in the darkroom while working as an apprentice at a studio in Muar, Malaysia.
He believed that the objective of artistic photography is to make pictures of aesthetic value, evoking emotions from those looking at it.
Lim was awarded the Cultural Medallion for Photography in 1987.
