Property agent Nick Lim bought his first piece of art when he was in his 20s - a Chinese ink painting of nine carp.

"I still remember it was $148. We were at the River Hong Bao celebrations and I told my parents I wanted to buy it and hang it in our living room," says Mr Lim, 44, who was still living with his parents in their HDB flat in Woodlands at the time.
