I support Mr Kenneth Kong Kitson's appeal for greater transparency in motor insurance claims ("Greater transparency needed in motor insurance claims"; Oct 27).
I had a similar accident along the Pan-Island Expressway towards Tuas in April. My Kia Picanto hit the rear bumper of a Toyota Altis at low speed and caused only a small dent.
But my insurer agreed to a claim of $2,700 for replacing the rear bumper.
Although I did not have to pay for the repairs, my insurance premium was raised upon renewal in September.
Why did the insurance companies on both sides agree to such a high insurance claim for a minor repair?
I hope the authorities are keeping an eye on how insurance companies set and approve claim amounts.
