Good healthcare important for senior citizens

I agree with Mr Joseph Tan Peng Chin on the quality of healthcare here ("Good treatment for all at public hospitals"; Wednesday).

I was hospitalised at the Singapore General Hospital for 14 days in July, on account of a bad fall at home. I was well looked after, even though I was in a Class B2 ward.

A special type of mattress was given to me which prevented me from getting bed sores ("Hospitals ramp up battle against bed sores"; Tuesday).

Every morning around 4am or 5am, two diligent nurses would thoroughly clean my body so that

I could feel comfortable and look presentable.

Without good healthcare, senior citizens would not be able to enjoy quality living in their twilight years.

We should not take things for granted, and should appreciate the good things about our healthcare system, yet improve on problem areas.
