Vietnam, S'pore reaffirm close ties

Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan has reaffirmed bilateral relations between Singapore and Vietnam during a meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Hanoi, Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement yesterday.

Dr Balakrishnan was on a three-day trip to Vietnam that will end with the last stop in Ho Chi Minh City today. In the meeting, he and Mr Phuc noted the regular high-level political exchanges between the two countries, underpinned by strong economic links, growing tourism flows and warm people-to-people relations, according to the statement.

Dr Balakrishnan also met and was hosted to lunch by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh yesterday, the statement said.
