The growing crisis of confidence in Hong Kong's law enforcers has to be solved by the city's government, with the backing of Beijing, security analysts pointed out.

They said that public trust in the Hong Kong Police Force, once lauded as Asia's finest and a key legacy left by the British after the former colony was returned to the Chinese in 1997, has sunk to its lowest levels since the handover.
