Mr Richard Teo, 37, a private hire driver, is in charge of the Hup Zhong Hungry Ghost Festival Committee. There are around 55 members in the committee who contribute membership fees. As the main organiser, he helped conduct prayer sessions, organise dinner with auction and even getai shows every year during Hungry Ghost Festival. This is the first time they are doing this after missing it the last two years because of the pandemic and will only organise dinner next year. The prayer session was held at 105 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh, because he used to stay there and he has since moved to Lorong 7 more than 10 years ago. It costs $120 to rent the burner and about $500 to buy the joss paper and offerings.
