Nirmala is The Straits Times’ India Bureau Chief. She joined the publication in 2010 after more than a decade of working with Indian newspapers, including The Asian Age, The Indian Express and The Economic Times. She has covered diverse areas – starting out as an education and court reporter for The Indian Express and eventually reporting on foreign policy at The Economic Times. She has continued to track trends in India through the prism of foreign policy, the economy and domestic politics.
