Chantal is senior correspondent at The Straits Times. A multidisciplinary designer in her own right, she has crafted logos for the Singapore Indian Development Association and Singapore Association of Women Lawyers. In 1990, she won an Award of Excellence from the US-based Society for News Design for experimental tabloid architecture. Chantal is currently researching South India’s influence in ancient South-east Asia for a book project on the origin story of Indian Peranakans.
