Donald Trump says 'dreamer' immigrants deal is near, as Republicans seethe
President Donald Trump said he was "fairly close" to finalising a deal with Democrats allowing young immigrants to remain in the United States, antagonising anti-immigration Republicans who worry he is violating his own campaign pledges.
"Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military? Really!" Trump tweeted, hours after he hosted a dinner meeting with top congressional Democrats in which they discussed securing the border in exchange for protections for immigrants known as "Dreamers."
"They have been in our country for many years through no fault of their own - brought in by parents at young age," he added.
Trump's apparent willingness to work with top Democrats rather than his own party's leaders who control the House and Senate, and his repeated attacks on Republicans on Twitter and during campaign-style rallies, has fuelled suggestions he is striking out on his own, all too willing to leave his party in the dust.
Trump says to visit China, Japan, South Korea in November
US President Donald Trump announced he intends to visit China, Japan and South Korea later this year, a blockbuster maiden presidential visit to Asia.
Trump said aboard Air Force One that a US delegation would likely make the trip in November, adding that he will "possibly" go to the Apec summit in Vietnam at the same time.
The announcement sets the stage for a wildly ambitious first visit to a region that is vital to US economic and security interests. The visit is likely to focus heavily on trade and North Korea's nuclear and ballistic weapons programmes, one of Trump's biggest security challenges since coming to office.
Lawsuit accuses Google of bias against women in pay, promotions
Three female former employees of Alphabet's Google filed a lawsuit accusing the tech company of discriminating against women in pay and promotions.
The proposed class action lawsuit, filed in California state court in San Francisco, comes as Google faces an investigation by the US Department of Labour into sex bias in pay practices.
The lawsuit appears to be the first to make class action sex bias claims against Google, but is only the latest instance of a major tech company being accused of discriminating against women.

Lady Gaga said she had been hospitalised in "severe pain" and was pulling out of Brazil's Rock in Rio festival, which she was due to headline this weekend.
The US superstar, who revealed on Tuesday that she suffers from the chronic disease fibromyalgia, had been due to open the festival on Friday in Rio de Janeiro.
"I was taken to hospital its not simply hip pain or wear & tear from tour, I'm in severe pain. I'm in good hands w/ the very best doctors," she tweeted.
