Schools: RI retain B boys' softball title while Chung Cheng High claim girls' crown

SINGAPORE - The past two Schools National B Division boys' softball finals have been contested by both Catholic High School (CHS) and Raffles Institution (RI), with RI emerging victorious each time.

And the defending champions successfully retained their title by beating Catholic High 13-2 at the Kallang Softball Diamond on Friday afternoon.

By the third inning, the Rafflesians were already 10-0 up with home runs by David Or and Higashitani Kohki.

Even though Catholic High tried to mount a comeback with runs by Silas Tay and Joshua Tan to make it 10-2, it was not enough as RI comfortably saw out the remainder of the game.

In the B girls' final held concurrently at the same venue, Tajong Katong Girls' School (TKGS) were aiming to reclaim the title they last won in 2014 after finishing a disappointing fourth in last year's competition.

But Chung Cheng High School (Main) (CCHS) refused to follow the script and stunned TKGS with a 7-1 victory.
