SINGAPORE – Lions fans who are aiming to support the Singapore football team in their quest to create history can purchase tickets to the away Asian Cup qualifier against Hong Kong from Nov 7, 5pm to 11.59pm on Nov 14, 11.59pm via the Ticketek website.
On Nov 7, the Football of Association (FAS) announced that the tickets for Singapore supporters are priced at $40, with fans “encouraged to secure their seats early due to limited availability”. An e-mail was also sent out to those who signed up for the waitlist to enjoy priority booking from 3pm to 4.59pm.
It is understood that there are around 2,000 tickets set aside for away fans at the 50,000-seater Kai Tak Stadium. The match kicks off on Nov 18, 8pm.
The FAS noted that “these tickets are strictly designated for Singapore fans”.
It added: “Those displaying home team colours or showing visible support for the home team in the away section may be refused entry or ejected from the venue by local authorities, with the ticket deemed null and void.”
Match ticket redemption instructions will be sent via email after purchase is completed. Supporters who are planning to travel to Hong Kong are advised to finalise their arrangements promptly and check for any operational updates or travel advisories that may be issued closer to match day.
Further information regarding stadium access and any additional logistical details will be communicated when available, said the national sports association.
The home side’s tickets will also go on sale at the same time via the Ticketflap platform, with prices set at HK$80 (S$13.40), HK$150, and HK$200, with an additional HK$30 handling fee per ticket.
Despite having recorded few achievements since winning their fourth Asean title in 2012, the Lions have maintained a four-match unbeaten streak in Group C of the ongoing Asian Cup qualifiers under former coach Tsutomu Ogura and current interim coach Gavin Lee. Singapore have never qualified for the continental showpiece, and competed in the 1984 edition as hosts.
They began their campaign with a 0-0 home draw against Hong Kong in March coming from behind to beat them 2-1
While they are currently second in Group C with eight points from four games, they have the same points and goal difference (+2) as leaders Hong Kong, and trail only by goals scored (5-6).
Only the top team from each of the six groups will join 18 other sides who have qualified for the tournament proper in Saudi Arabia in 2027, which means India and Bangladesh are out of the reckoning.
With the competition regulations stating that the tie-breaker for teams level on points is their head-to-head record, the winners of the Hong Kong-Singapore match will earn their Asian Cup ticket. If this game ends in a draw, qualification will go down to the last round of qualifiers on March 31, 2026.
With the Lions on the cusp of their most significant achievement, there has been considerable buzz online. Ticketing teasers on the FAS’ Facebook and Instagram page attracted thousands of likes and hundreds of comments.
Lions supporter Kenneth Ho said: “It could all come down to this 90 minutes, and we could be celebrating arguably our greatest football achievement at the end of it. My friends and I have been looking out for ticketing information, flights and accommodation options ever since we beat India on Oct 14, so we are relieved to finally be able to secure our match tickets to book our trip.
“Hopefully, we will also be able to witness the Lions book their spot in the Asian Cup.”
