Snake attacks are rare and the creatures generally shy away from people unless threatened, say experts.

At around 4am on Tuesday, a woman was bitten on her left leg by a python while she was looking for her cat on the second storey of a Sembawang Housing Board block. The bite left her bleeding profusely.
