SINGAPORE - In a bid to make temperature taking more efficient, safe and cost-saving, the Government Technology Agency (GovTech) has developed a new automated self-help temperature-scanning system, which has been deployed in more than 30 government buildings and community facilities in less than two weeks.

Developed and manufactured in-house by GovTech, the temperature scanner uses existing off-the-shelf tools, such as a battery-operated infrared thermometer, a motion-sensing camera and a small single-board computer called a raspberry pi. There is no human contact or intervention needed when it functions.
