SINGAPORE - Less than two weeks since it was introduced, the long-awaited McDonald's chocolate pie is now out of stock islandwide.

The news was broken to disappointed fans on McDonald's Facebook page, explaining that the treat was sold out "due to the overwhelming response it received".

"As it is a promotional item, it won't be coming back anytime soon," the comment by the popular fast food chain went on to say.

The dessert, a chocolatey take on the traditional apple pie, is filled with oozing molten lava chocolate and retailed for $1.40.

It was launched alongside other seasonal offerings like the Fish & Fries on March 1, 2018.

But all is not lost for those with a sweet tooth as McDonald's is offering their apple pie and their red bean pie for a promotional price of $1 to make up for the loss.

For now, it's bye bye (chocolate) pie.
