SINGAPORE – Generations of Singaporeans who grew up with Milo vans during their school years can now relive their childhood at home.
Milo Singapore launched a Milo Van iteration on April 2, which is available at all major local supermarkets such as FairPrice, Sheng Siong, Cold Storage, Giant, Prime Supermarket and online retailers.
The announcement was made on Milo Singapore’s Instagram account on April 1, prompting some netizens to query if it was an April Fool’s joke. But in a reply on its Facebook account a day later, the brand said “Milo Van Sachets is real” and that the product is “different from other Milo sachets”.
Each pack comes with 12 sachets and the drink can be enjoyed just by adding cold water, it added in an Instagram post, which has received 604 likes and 29 comments as at April 4 afternoon.
A check on the FairPrice website shows each pack costs $7.95, although the product is listed as out of stock.
In response to The Straits Times’ queries, Nestle Singapore noted that “Milo has always been an integral part of the Singaporean food and cultural fabric”, and that queueing at the Milo van is an experience shared by many Singaporeans who have grown up with the brand.
“As we mark our 75th anniversary, there is no better time to bring Singaporeans their favourite Milo in an all-new sachet format,” said business manager Alene Ee.
Milo lover Tasha Tan told ST she was pleasantly surprised by the launch of the Milo Van sachets. “I always looked forward to it when I was in secondary school, where the van would appear on special occasions,” said the 29-year-old case manager.
“The taste is unique and nicer compared with the Milo that I drink at home. It is a product that I will definitely buy to try.”
