We have 60,000 thoughts a day. It is just as astonishing that 90 per cent of our galaxy of thoughts is repetitive.

These recurring thoughts tend to be negative and intrusive, recycled from days and decades past, as I reckoned while reading about Stanford psychologist Fred Luskin’s research.
