SINGAPORE – On Jan 31, Mr Lim Tiat and his mother and sister had an advanced blood pressure test to check their arterial age.

The machine they used went beyond recording systolic and diastolic pressure, giving readings for the central arterial pressure waveform. This is a measure of how stiff a person’s arteries are and predicts the risk of adverse cardiovascular events.
