SINGAPORE - From Friends to Bennifer, 2021 was marked by reunions and revisits in the entertainment world.

In May, the six main cast members of American sitcom Friends (1994 to 2004) got together for Friends: The Reunion.

During the special, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer revisited the show's sets, including their characters' apartments and the Central Perk coffee shop.

They did table reads, re-enacted iconic scenes and dished out offscreen nuggets about their casting process and the real-life crush between Schwimmer and Aniston, who play an on-off couple in the series.

Another high-profile television reunion came from comedy-drama series Sex And The City (1998 to 2004).

Three of the four main cast members - Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon - reprised their roles for a revival series titled And Just Like That..., which premiered on Dec 9.

Still set in New York, the 10-episode series sees the characters navigating love and friendships in their 50s. It also stars regulars of the original series, such as Chris Noth and David Eigenberg.

Throughout the year, mini-reunions among cast members from other television shows and movies also surfaced on social media.

For example, Gillian Anderson posted a photo on Instagram of herself with David Duchovny in April. The pair had starred in sci-fi drama The X-Files (1993 to 2018).

On the romantic front, former lovebirds Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas also took a snap together at a Halloween party in October. It was uploaded to Jonas' Instagram Stories and shared by Lovato. The two, who briefly dated in 2010, starred in Disney's musical television film, Camp Rock (2008), and its 2010 sequel.

But perhaps there is no bigger celebrity reunion this year than Bennifer - the name given to the high-profile relationship between singer-actress Jennifer Lopez and actor Ben Affleck when they dated in the early noughties.

Hearts worldwide broke when the couple split in 2004 - and rejoiced again when they rekindled their romance in April this year.

After sightings together, Bennifer 2.0 became Instagram official in July, when JLo uploaded a photo of them smooching.
