KUALA LUMPUR – Rumours of the marriage of Malaysian celebrity couple Uqasha Senrose and Kamal Adli (both right) ending have been confirmed. The actress said she filed for divorce on Oct 1.

Trouble reportedly began as early as in April, with netizens noticing that Uqasha had been dropping hints about relationship problems. Their marriage became the subject of public speculation after they unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Uqasha, 33, married actor Kamal, 39, on Nov 5, 2021, in Janda Baik, Pahang, and they share a 1½-year-old daughter.

According to Uqasha’s lawyer Nurfarhana Abd Manaf, her client could no longer find mutual understanding in the marriage and was unable to continue maintaining the relationship.

“I can’t comment further as the matter will be brought before the judge,” Ms Nurfarhana told mStar, The Star‘s Malay-language portal. “What we can say is that Uqasha has lost her patience and there is no longer any understanding between them.

The lawyer was speaking after the first divorce proceeding at the Syariah Lower Court in Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur, on the morning of Oct 22.

She added that Kamal had made no effort to reconcile with Uqasha during their marital crisis.

Uqasha, whose full name is Nik Zaris Uqasha Nik Sen, nodded in agreement with her lawyer’s statement during the meeting with the media.

The actress urged Kamal, whose full name is Ahmad Kamal Ahmad Adli, to cooperate and attend the court proceedings related to their divorce.

She also wished that her husband would respect the court and all parties involved to ensure a smooth legal process. “I just hope he cooperates. Don’t be absent like this – I have my work too,” said the actress, who is known for her roles in films such as Bencinta (2013), Hantu Kak Limah (2018) and Sumpahan Jerunei (2023).

She reportedly arrived as early as 9am for the proceedings. Meanwhile, Kamal, who had work commitments, was represented by his lawyer Abdul Hadi Mohamad Saleh.

Ms Nurfarhana said: “As the defendant was absent today, the case could not proceed and had to be postponed to Oct 28.” THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
