KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian comedian Harith Iskander’s wife, medical entrepreneur Jezamine Lim, has filed for divorce at the Syariah Lower Court in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, according to a report by mStar – The Star newspaper’s Malay-language portal.
The case is expected to be heard soon.
While the exact date of her filing is not known, a picture of her in front of the courthouse wearing a robe and headscarf, accompanied by syariah lawyer Akberdien Abdul Kadir, has surfaced online.
Datuk Akberdien has previously represented several Malaysian artistes in their divorce cases.
Harith, 58, and Dr Lim, 41, were married on June 12, 2010. They have three children aged 14, 11 and nine.
When contacted by mStar on July 9, Dr Lim said she had filed for divorce in June. “I don’t remember the exact date the application was made, but it was about a month ago,” she added.
She declined to disclose why she filed for divorce.
“I have no comments at this time. Maybe I will share later,” she said.
Similarly, Harith, considered Malaysia’s “godfather of stand-up comedy”, did not give any response on his wife’s divorce filing when he was contacted by mStar for confirmation.
“I have no comments on that matter,” he said. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
