PETALING JAYA – Only Malaysian civil servants who stay more than 8km away from the office will be allowed to work from home three times per week.
In a circular, Malaysia’s Public Service Department director-general Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz said this arrangement applies only to those working in Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and all state capitals from April 15.
“Civil servants working in the security and defence, health and education sectors are exempted from the arrangement,” he said in the circular issued on April 2.
Mr Wan Ahmad Dahlan said the WFH arrangement for states observing weekends on Sunday would apply from Tuesday to Thursday, while states observing weekends on Friday (Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu) would apply from Monday to Wednesday.
He also said the home address of civil servants to determine the distance to the workplace would be based on information in the Human Resources Information Management System.
“Those allowed to WFH are also required to log in to the online monitoring system every hour to record their attendance using geo-location functions on their devices at home.
“Department heads must also identify the output expected from each officer working from home and should regularly review and confirm the established work targets and outcomes,” he said. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
