Man charged for attempting to kill Donald Trump

A man has been charged for trying to grab a police officer's gun at a Donald Trump rally in Las Vegas so he could kill the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

According to a complaint filed in US District Court in Nevada, Michael Sandford tried to disarm the officer at the June 18 rally at the Mystere Theatre in the Treasure Island Casino before being overpowered.

"Sandford revealed that he made a conscious effort to come to Las Vegas to kill Trump," the complaint states.

During siege, Orlando gunman told police he was 'Islamic soldier'

The Florida nightclub killer called himself an "Islamic soldier" and threatened to strap hostages into explosive vests in calls with police during the three-hour siege, according to transcripts released by the FBI.

From inside the gay Orlando nightclub, the gunman, Omar Mateen told police negotiators to tell America to stop bombing Syria and Iraq and that was why he was "out here right now."

The FBI and US State Department released partial transcripts of the four calls with the emergency operator and crisis negotiators earlier on Monday, omitting the shooter's references to the leader of ISIS, saying they did not want to provide a platform for propaganda. But they later reversed their decision and released the unredacted version after a wave of criticism.

Russian far-right agitator, expelled by France, is arrested back at Euro 2016

French police arrested Russian far-right football fan leader Alexander Shprygin watching his country at Euro 2016 just two days after he was expelled from France over fan violence, the interior ministry said.

Shortly before his detention, Shprygin told AFP by telephone from the stadium: "I am at the match with a ticket. "The French authorities told me I was not deported but just expelled, my Schengen visa has not been cancelled and all the stamps are there. So I can legally be in the European Union."

Shprygin also posted photographs of himself outside the stadium in Toulouse on his Twitter account, wearing a blue straw hat and sunglasses.

French woman who left baby to drown blames 'witchcraft'

A French woman who left her baby daughter to drown on a beach said on Monday she had no other explanation but "witchcraft".

Fabienne Kabou, 39, went on trial for the murder of 15-month-old Adelaide which shocked the country in November 2013.

Kabou travelled with her daughter from their home in Paris to the northern resort town of Berck-sur-Mer where she enquired about the local tides before heading to the beach. She said goodbye to her sleeping daughter and placed her near the water on a wintry night. The baby's lifeless body was discovered early the next morning by prawn fishermen.

Euro 2016: Wales thump Russia to top group and move into last sixteen

Wales outplayed Russia 3-0, scoring twice in the opening 20 minutes, as they moved into the round of 16 at Euro 2016 by winning Group B.

Aaron Ramsey dinked the ball over Igor Akinfeev to finish off a counter-attack in the 11th minute and Neil Taylor added a second, also from a counter-attack nine minutes later as Wales took early control.

Russia had no answer to the fast, incisive Welsh breaks and survived several more chances before Gareth Bale scored his third goal of the tournament to become Euro 2016's top marksman, flicking the third past Akinfeev in the 67th minute.
